Tension and Trauma Releasing Exercises (TRE) – what it is and how it can help you
I love my hands-on work – but with the overnight lockdown landing in March 2020 I was suddenly unable to perform any of my usual therapies for a while. I have been helping clients overcome pain, stress and tension since 2004, but now my hands were tied.
At the time I was also nursing a double-sided Achilles injury. This became worse over the first weeks of lockdown, so I couldn’t even go for a walk, let alone a run (my go-to sport to de-stress). Then, quite suddenly, an old back injury and a shoulder niggle returned for no particular reason.
I didn’t feel sorry for myself but I needed to find a way to get over my own physical niggles. I also felt frustrated and sad that I couldn't serve my clients but I still wanted to help people overcome their challenges.
What could I do to help the world overcome this collective trauma, one person at a time?
I googled various things and stumbled across TRE.
What's new at the clinic in Newmarket?
Well, I've been treating clients with back pain or other pain since 2004. I love helping people with chronic pain. When the pandemic started my hands were tied. I was limited in what I could offer. Yes, I could help a few people with online self-care sessions, even small groups at lunch-time over Zoom and tapping for emotional pain such as anxiety, anger, grief, trauma etc was a big hit too.
Then I stumbled over Rapid NeuroFascial Reset and the rest is history.
Research has shown that stress can contribute to physical pain.
Since the outbreak of COVID 19, have you noticed any of the below?
- Frequent headaches
- Tense shoulders
- Neck pain
- Back ache
- Sore knees
- Increased asthma symptoms
- IBS flare-up
- Other niggles
The wellbeing of your staff is paramount so all your teams and the business itself can be more productive, regardless of its size. Your company should be ahead of the game and keen to help employees eliminate any unnecessary pain that stops them from performing their best.
I recently helped a client who was experiencing terrible headaches lasting for days as well as pins and needles in her left arm. Her husband had to drive her to my clinic; she was in agony when she came to see me. This lady is a line worker on 12 hour shifts with 4 days on, 4 days off. She regularly had to perform the same actions with her arms over and over again. Her neck movement was very restricted and this led to the discomfort in the arm and unpleasant headaches.
Most of us experience some kind of back pain at some point in our lives. Many even suffer from such chronic pain and miss days off work because of it. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to do something about that nagging pain yourself? The DORN Method empowers you to help yourself. The method is named after its German founder, Dieter Dorn who developed the technique more than 30 years ago. It has been a popular treatment in German speaking countries for decades, but it has only recently come to England as well.
This revolutionary stretching technique was developed by and named after the American, Richard Rossiter, a couple of decades ago and only came to England about 3-4 years ago. It is a fast, safe and effective method to help people with back pain!
Since 2003, I have been very passionate about helping people with complementary therapies: and I feel that this is by far the quickest way I learnt to help people to literally step out of pain.
