About the treatment
Whatever level of sports you play – competitive, leisure or even if you play no sports at all – Sports Massage will help you do what you need to do in comfort.
You don’t have to be sporty to benefit from a massage of the deeper tissues. Often my clients suffer from back pain, neck pain, frozen shoulder, tennis elbow, sciatica, whiplash or RSI (Repetitive Strain Injury).
If you work in an office all day hunched over a computer, go home and sit down for a meal, watch television, etc., you will abuse certain muscles and create muscle imbalances. Just as a marathon runner or keen sportsman would do if they were doing the same exercises several times a week. This can lead to tension, pain and injuries.
A Sports Massage can be used as part of your regular maintenance, injury prevention or rehabilitation programme and will help counteract the stresses and strains of any regular activity.
There are many options in the Sports Massage ‘toolkit’ such as Soft Tissue Release, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Technique, Strain Counter Strain, Trigger Point Therapy, Muscle Energy Technique, Post-Isometric Relaxation and Reciprocal Inhibition to name but a few.
As the name suggests, this form of massage will be a bit firmer and deeper than a relaxing treatment you would have at a Spa or Beauty parlour. The benefits are often longer-lasting.
